Peter Rimpf is responsible for the operation of the CRFB, equipment maintenance, and microtechnological process development.  He underwent formation as an electroplating technician and semiconductor specialist for production, research and development. Peter has more than 15 years of experience in the production of high-performance semiconductor devices in GaAs, SiC and Si technologies.

Jonathan Schmidli's activities in the CRFB encompass device fabrication, process development, user support, and facility maintenance. He holds a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a Master's degree in industrial engineering with a focus on materials technology from the external page University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Northwestern Switzerland. His skills include microfluidic chip fabrication, CMOS postprocessing, 3D design, and additive manufacturing.

Marina Marti joined the CRFB in April 2025 to support the operation and maintenance of the expanded cleanroom facilities in the BSS building. Marina is an experienced and versatile laboratory technician with expertise in chemistry, biology, and medical technology. Her professional career includes many years in the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industry, including at pRED of Hoffmann-La Roche AG, KYMRIAH production at Novartis Pharma Stein AG, and activities at the startup CTC-Diagnostics, where she actively participated in the development of new ELISA-based test systems and established processes for antibody purification.

Andreas Hierlemann is the delegate of the Department BSSE to guide and oversee operation and all matters related to the CRFB.

He completed his college education in chemistry at the University of Tübingen, Germany, and was awarded a Ph.D. degree in 1996. He then held Postdoctoral positions at Texas A & M University, College Station, TX, USA, in 1997, and at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM, USA, in 1998. In 1999, he joined the Department of Physics, ETH Zurich, Switzerland, where he was appointed Associate Professor in June 2004. In April 2008, he became a Full Professor in the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (BSSE) of ETH Zurich in Basel. His research interests include the development and application of microtechnological, microfluidic, and microelectronic devices to address questions in biology and medicine with applications in the fields of systems biology, drug testing, personalized medicine, and neuroscience.
