Our latest paper introduces the recordanelle — a synthetic organelle that anchors to mitochondria and captures and protects messenger RNAs as cells make them. Recordanelles sample up to 90% of expressed genes and preserve transient events for days after they would normally vanish, even at single-cell resolution.
