Dr. Nicolas Huguenin-Dezot
Staff of Professorship for Bioprocess
The focus of our group is to study atypical modes of DNA replication and exploit their potential as biotechnological tools. We use a various range of structural biology techniques (X-ray crystallography, NMR and cryo-EM) and synthetic biology methods (directed evolution and unnatural amino acid incorporation) to study these fascinating processes. Ultimately, our group is interested in developing new ways to evolve proteins and endow them with new functions. These newly evolved proteins could find various applications (from the development/production of innovative drugs to new chemical agents or enzymes/organism helping to address environmental issues) that will help solve some of the challenges that our society is facing in the 21st century.
