My project focuses on the structural and biochemical characterisation of proteins which are associated with an atypical DNA replication mode. Molecular-level understanding of interactions between the key components of this system is critical to build a better understanding of the mechanisms governing this process. In addition to using techniques like X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy to produce the structural data, I am also pursuing an interdisciplinary approach combining several other techniques, including solution NMR spectroscopy and synthetic biology techniques. This allows me to study the dynamics of the involved players and to begin to shine light on this poorly researched replication mode.
