LAF Grand Opening
Reopening of the D-BSSE’s Lab Automation Facility (LAF) in the BSS building
The LAF celebrated with its users and guests from other local academic institutions and pharmaceutical industry its reopening after significant instrumentation additions and replacements to further develop its robotics portfolio. In alignment with the LAF’s mission to provide state-of-the-art robotic equipment and integrated instrumentation with expert support for the execution of complex experimental workflows we revised and modernized the layout of our lab automation platforms. Now located in a newly designed space, the LAF has integrated a wide range of new high-tech equipment and restructured its services to provide enhanced functionality, following our assessment of the research needs at the D-BSSE.
Centered around three pillars - Cell Culture and Organoid Automation, Microbiology and Molecular Biology Automation, and the Stand-alone devices that can be integrated with our Custom Solution Robotic System - the LAF enables rapid development and execution of custom workflows. The Cell Culture and Organoid Platform as well as the microbiology and screening platform was also upgraded to be fit to handle BSL2 samples.
This reopening event introduced the new possibilities that can support and accelerate the research of the users of the LAF and fostered the networking with our neighboring research institutions.
