Barbara awarded the Cloëtta Jubilee prize
In honour of its 50th anniversary, the Max Cloëtta Foundation awarded its Jubilee Prize to two ETH Zurich professors, Tanja Stadler and Barbara Treutlein for their outstanding achievements and active research in the field of biomedicine. Both working in ETH Zurich’s Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering in Basel, Switzerland, Stadler and Treutlein will share the award’s endowment valued at 250,000 Swiss francs to fund their future research.
Barbara receives renowned Friedrich Miescher Award
Barbara will be awarded the Friedrich Miescher Award 2023. The prize is Switzerland’s highest distinction for scientists under 40 working in the field of biochemistry.
Barbara elected EMBO member!
Barbara is now elected as one of the new member of the European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO).
Can organoids recapitulate human development?
The Camp lab at IOB and collaborators with the labs of Jason Spence at the University of Michigan and Barbara Treutlein at the ETH Zürich established a single-cell transcriptome atlas from multiple developing human organs. They combined the cell atlas with organoid technologies to see how well organoids recapitulate actual human development, and to explore mechanisms underlying the generation of organ-specific stem cells. This exciting work is now published in Cell .
Barbara awarded Golden Owl in recognition of her excellent teaching
The Golden Owl honours lecturers distinguished by exceptional teaching and motivates them to continue with their excellent teaching. The Owl is awarded by ETH Zurich’s student association. This year, the Owl was awarded to D-BSSE Professor Barbara Treutlein who heads the Quantitative Developmental Biology Lab.
