Pathoplexus launched!
We're excited to share the launch of Pathoplexus, a specialized database for human viral pathogens of public health importance. By combining modern open-source software and transparent governance, Pathoplexus aims to improve sequence sharing for research and public health.
Pathoplexus (external page http://pathoplexus.org/) has been a huge volunteer effort by an incredible number of people across the globe, you can find a list of all members here: external page https://pathoplexus.org/about/members.
Huge congrats to all software developers who worked on Loculus, the new software behind Pathoplexus (external page https://loculus.org/#team).
The past year was an inspiring, intense, as well as extremely enjoyable time for our team at ETH Zürich (https://bsse.ethz.ch/cevo; with the support of software development experts from TNG technology who we could contract for this project). It was an amazing journey for us to work with collaborators across the globe from the first idea to what we now call Pathoplexus! We are very proud to have played a core role in designing Loculus and leading its development to what it is today - together with the wider team of great colleagues from Basel, London, and Toronto.
