Research area
James is a mathematical infectious disease epidemiologist with interests in infectious disease dynamics, real-time epidemic analysis, and social and behavioural factors in infectious disease transmission.
In his current role, James works with Prof. Tanja Stadler and WISE project collaborators to develop mathematical and statistical frameworks for making epidemiological insights from viral concentrations in wastewater.
Before joining the Computational Evolution group at ETH Zurich in January 2023, James was part of the Centre for Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where he completed his PhD in Mathematical Epidemiology (2020), followed by a postdoctoral position working with Prof. Sebastian Funk working on Real-time analysis of epidemics.
