Research area
Most of my research has been dedicated to understanding how G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) receive and relay extracellular signals to intracellular signalling cascades. GPCRs are transmembrane proteins and provide cells with unique and essential functions for the basic processes of life by sensing a wide range of extracellular chemical and physical stimuli. Previously, I worked in the field of GPCR pharmacology where I focused on ligand binding and downstream signalling events in cells. Currently, I am using atomic force microscopy (AFM) to study at the single-molecule level how factors such as lipid composition, ligand binding, and post-translational modifications modulate the interaction forces between GPCRs and arrestin.
