Data Management

The Genomics Facility uses customized openBIS software as sample submission and tracking system to manage Next Generation Sequencing data and meta data files.

openBIS can be accessed by clients to either download the output or just have a look at the QC data and meta data. Due to a role and project based framework the users only see their own data.

If you are a "first time" client we will provide you with a login and password for accessing our data management system. In order to efficiently use and navigate in our openBIS module we offer 1:1 or group training sessions. Please contact .

Once the biological sample arrives at the core facility a staff member "moves it" from the incoming data space to the effective data space, where only the core facility personnel can edit the meta data. A tracking system provides an automated e-mail functionality establishing a communication link between the core facility and the researchers indicating the status of key steps in the experimental process, such as the completion of DNA library preparation and the generation of sequencing data. The system handles all meta data during the process from biological sample to sequence reads and automatically attaches the output of the Illumina pipeline and provided QC measurements of the sequencing data to the meta data. This ensures that the complete information related to one sample is  available at one place via a web interface.
