Felix Franke received an SNSF Ambizione grant for his proposal entitled "Position Dependence of Retinal Computation". In this project, he intends to explore the position-dependent nature of retinal image processing, first, by measuring the position dependence of retinal ganglion cell properties across the whole retina, and, then, by describing the interplay between eye optics and the position-dependent characteristics of retinal ganglion cells. The grant amounts to 583 kCHF and includes his own salary, the salary for an additional PhD student plus consumables.

The external page SNSF Ambizione program is geared for young researchers to conduct, manage and lead an independently planned project at a Swiss university. Researchers are subsidized for a maximum of three years with a salary (research associate level) and project funds.
