InSphero AG

InSphero has been founded on March 26^th, 2009 in Zurich by the BEL collaborator Dr. Jan Lichtenberg, as well as Dr. Jens Kelm (ETH and University of Zurich) and Dr. Wolfgang Moritz (University of Zurich).

InSphero AG is a company producing and marketing 3D in vitro tissue models and offering a technological platform and expertise for drug discovery to researchers and industry clients. InSphero offers ready-to-use microtissues, microtissue assays, and 3D cell-culture solutions, which are compatible with existing laboratory automation tools. InSphero is headquartered in Schlieren, Switzerland with subsidiaries in the United States.

3D microtissue models mimic the behavior and function of living organs much better than conventional cell cultures. They lead to increased robustness, reliability, reproducibility, and scalability in compound testing and enable physiologically more relevant screening and validation processes for the development of drugs and biopharmaceuticals. Therefore, InSphero‘s spheroid-based models allow for more effective, and safe therapies to reach the clinic.
