New BEL coworker Alessio Buccino featured in BSSE news
New ETH postdoctoral fellow in our group, working on computational modeling of neuronal networks, Alessio Buccino, was interviewed for the News page of the Department BSSE.
Alessio Buccino, a new ETH postdoctoral fellow in our group, was interviewed for the News page of the Department BSSE. During his PhD, he developed model-based methods to improve electrophysiological techniques based on multi-electrode arrays. He joined our lab in March 2020 to combine computational modeling and multimodal experiments to imvestigate biological neuronal networks. His research will be about developing realistic and biophysically detailed models of single neurons. In order to do so, he will combine several techniques including patch-clamp, high-density extracellular electrical recordings and genetically-encoded voltage indicators. The rich and comprehensive datasets acquired with this multi-modal system will be used to build better and more accurate models of neurons. He said that, once the coronavirus-curve will flatten, he plans to explore the Swiss alps with his snowboard.
