Furkan Gökce featured on PHRT webpage
BEL PhD student Furkan Gökce and his research project within the Personalized Health and Related Technologies (PHRT) initiative featured on the "Meet the researchers" website of PHRT.
Furkan Gökce and his PHRT iDoc-Project titled "Leukemia on chip – Microphysiological multi-tissue System for real-time monitoring of patient-derived acute lymphoblastic leukemia" were featured on the PHRT webpage Meet the researchers. The project is a collaboration between the group of Beat Bornhauser at the University Children's Hospital Zurich and our group at D-BSSE of ETH Zurich. The work includes culturing patient-derived xenograft cells of leukemia patients with human bone marrow cells and human liver microtissues in a microfluidic platform in order to mimic liver-mediated drug metabolism and flow conditions that leukemia cells usually experience in the body. The aim is to screen the responses of patients to the available anticancer drugs in a physiologically relevant environment and to select the most suitable drugs.
Personalized Health and Related Technologies (external page PHRT) is a strategic focus area of the ETH Domain with the goal of improving the quality of Personalized Health and Precision Medicine by providing a choice of individual therapeutic strategies for patients.
