Poster prize at MPS Summit 2024 for Martin Stano
Best Poster Award (3rd place) at the Microphysiological Systems (MPS) World Summit for Martin Stano presenting a platform for in-vitro sonodynamic therapy testing.
Martin Stano received a Best Poster Award (3rd place) at the Microphysiological Systems (MPS) World Summit in Seattle, Washington, USA, on June 10-14, 2024 for his contribution titled "Advanced microfluidic platform for in-vitro sonodynamic therapy testing in diffuse midline glioma cell models". The contribution describes a microfluidic platform designed for testing sonodynamic therapy efficacy, particularly for glioma treatment. The design and selection of platform materials was optimized to avoid disruption of the stimulating FUS field and to support long-term cell culturing. The uniform and predictable ultrasound field distribution was confirmed by both, finite-element-method simulations using COMSOL Multiphysics and experiments with ultrasound field mapping with a needle hydrophone. Additionally, the developed platform enables unhindered optical access for high-resolution microscopy, and is compatible with two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) cell-culture environments.
Any poster from early-career scientists accepted for in-person presentation at MPS World Summit 2024 was eligible for the Best Poster Award. The posters were judged during the poster session, and the winners were selected based on scientific excellence, innovation, and clarity of the presentation.
