We combine computational design and directed evolution to create enzymes.

Our group aims to develop sustainable enzymes for solar-driven biocatalysis and energy production, enhance our understanding of the molecular origins of biocatalysis, and expand our abilities to engineer novel enzymes.

desevo — Computational design introduces catalytic activity into inactive enzymes (yellow). The resulting designs (green) are subsequently improved to highly active enzymes (blue) by directed evoluton.

In our group, we tailor photoenzymes for sustainable biosynthesis and energy production, and study the origins of enzyme cataylsis and evolution.
