Biotechnology Students Association
The Biotechnology Students Association serves as the students’ representative body at D-BSSE.
Students of diverse academic and cultural backgrounds join the Biotechnology and Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Master's
programmes: our aim is to make the entry into these programmes as smooth as possible by organising welcome events to bring together and connect new students, as well as offering advice on how to best adjust to life at D-BSSE.
We provide help for study-related questions, such as gathering study materials, running a small but useful library, and evaluating lectures. We also organise social events throughout the year where students can learn and benefit from each other's experiences. To complement the demanding academic life of scientists and bioengineers in the making, we host a weekly After-Work Pint, where Master's and doctoral students, postdocs, and professors can all come together and exchange ideas in a relaxed environment.
Together with the Verein des Mittelbaus, we also organise weekend retreats in the mountains for hiking and skiing, as well as events such as beer brewing, which further encourage students to build friendships outside of the academic environment.
