Basel Research Centre for Child Health

The Basel Research Centre for Child Health (BRCCH, formerly named Botnar Research Centre for Child Health) started operations on 1 January 2019 as a joint research initiative by ETH Zurich and the University of Basel; Prof. Georg Holländer and Prof. Sai Reddy both co-lead the Centre. Beside the University of Basel and ETH Zurich, partner institutions include the University Children's Hospital of Basel (UKBB) and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) but research activities extend to teams and institutions worldwide. The external pageFondation Botnar generously supports the centre with 100 Mio CHF for an initial life-span of 10 years. In 2023, Fondation Botnar donated an additional CHF 50 Mio to the University of Basel and ETH Zurich to expand the activities, allowing to create six new professorships with a research focus on paediatric digital health.

BRCCH’s mission is to establish itself as a leading institution conducting user-inspired, cutting edge and translational research that will improve the health and well-being of children and adolescents worldwide.
