Kobi started his career at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering of ETH Zurich as an Assistant Professor of Synthetic Biology in 2010 and continued as an Associate Professor in October 2015. In his research, he developed and applied tools and methods of biological computing and synthetic biology to establish novel approaches to treat cancer.

As of April, Kobi will become a full-time CEO of Pattern BioSciences, a biotech startup that he co-founded in 2018. Pattern’s approach is enabled in part by the results of his and his group’s work at ETH Zurich.

“Kobi’s engagement for the department, its students and its future, and his expertise in computational and synthetic biology will be greatly missed at D-BSSE and at ETH Zurich”, says Sven Panke, Head of Department. “We wish him best of luck for this exciting next career step.”
